Meet Your Award Winning Instructor Bio:


Rebekah has over 20 years of teaching experience in Violin, Viola, Piano, Singing, and Theory. She follows the ABRSM and Trinity Syllabi and incorporates some of the Suzuki methods for beginner Violin.

Rebekah began studying the violin at the age of 7. She studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Junior Department and after gaining a scholarship to study A-levels at Charterhouse, went on to study music at The University of York. Whilst at York, Rebekah performed the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the University Orchestra and won the Scarborough College Recital Prize.

After graduating from York, Rebekah won a Leverhulme Scholarship to study baroque violin with Catherine Mackintosh at The Royal College of Music and graduated with Distinction. Whilst at the RCM, she also won the prestigious Early Music Century Prize and led the RCM Baroque Orchestra.

Rebekah spent the next few years performing in all the major concert halls in the UK and Europe and made many recordings and TV appearances with The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, The London Handel Orchestra, The Gabrieli Consort and the King’s Consort to name a few.

In 2001, she came to live in Northern Ireland and initially went back to London to work. With increasing family commitments, she decided to build a thriving private teaching practice and in 2006, founded the Ballymena Chamber Orchestra and Community Choir and has been its Artistic Director since then.

In 2018, Rebekah was awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours for her services to music in Northern Ireland.
